Ouidah & the Door of No Return
All experiences
Walk the Route des Esclaves from the old auction square to the arch on the beach where the ships left.
Ouidah is the reason many people come to Benin. We walk the four kilometres of the Route des Esclaves past the Tree of Forgetting and the Zomaï hut, through the Python Temple and the Portuguese fort, and end at the Door of No Return facing the Atlantic. It is a heavy day, and worth taking slowly.
